The iCOOL FP7 Project – Saturn Engineering Ltd. is part of an innovative European Project associated with Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC).

The iCOOL FP7 Project started in October 2011 with expected continuance 25 months.

Project Concept and Objectives

The extension of the Ecodesign Directive (2009/125/EC) to cover commercial refrigeration equipment should be treated as a unique opportunity to change the current status quo affecting our industry.
The project objective is therefore to develop a completely new beverage cooler platform that achieves energy savings of up to 75% compared to conventional available beverage coolers. This will likely exceed any of the targets being set by the Ecodesign Directive for the foreseeable future.

Innovations

In iCOOL FP7 we aim to develop a novel beverage cooler that achieves a step change in energy efficiency compared to existing systems currently available in the market place. This will be achieved by a combination of applying existing incremental improvement solutions as well as by development of novel technologies that will maximise the potential
benefits of these improvement options. See iCOOL FP7 Project Overview.
